From Gail Scowcraft of the URI Graduate School of Oceanography (GSO):
We are delighted to report to you that the RI team , Cranston West High School, representing GSO in Biloxi, MS this week at the National Ocean Sciences Bowl won top honors!! They are this year's NOSB champions and will participate in research this summer in Hawaii as their grand prize.
GSO can be very proud of their home team. They were undefeated as they moved in the final rounds.
Other winners this year are teams from Lincoln Sudbury high from Boston, MA - second place, Mission San Jose High from San Jose, CA - third place, and Oconee High from So. Carolina - fourth place.
Special thanks to all the GSO volunteers who make our RI/CT regional such a successful competition!Congratulations to Cranston West High School on an outstanding job. I served as a judge on the National Ocean Sciences Bowl Regional Competition a few years ago and was amazed by the high level of the questions.
