The most recent issue of the IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering has a large number of papers devoted to the Asian Seas International Acoustics Experiment (ASIAEX). This picture shows just three of many ships from many countries participating in the experiment (R/V Melville, R/V Shi Yan 2 and R/V Shi Yan 3) in the East and South China Seas. The link for the special issue is above. The papers deal with oceanography including internal waves and tides, sediments, and acoustic propagation in this very interesting part of the world.
